Psychoeducational Assessment

Psychoeducational assessments are usually recommended when people (children, adolescents and adults) are experiencing educational difficulties, or for purposes of academic and career planning. Individuals can seek an assessment for themselves – a referral is not necessary.

A comprehensive psychoeducational assessment investigates many factors that could be affecting someone’s functioning

Individualized educational and vocational planning and programming are developed based on the assessment findings. Most school and work settings will only accept the identification and diagnosis of a learning disability based on the results of this type of formal psychoeducational assessment.

All psychoeducational assessment services are charged on an hourly basis. The total time required to complete an assessment varies from person to person and depends greatly upon the nature, history and complexity of the concerns. In many instances, either all or part of the fee will be reimbursed through your extended health care plan if you are covered by insurance.

If you are considering or have been asked to consider a psychoeducational assessment, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
